How Escrow Works

Your money is protected on every order

What is escrow?

When you pay for an order, your money is held securely by TradeLink - not the seller. It is only released after you confirm delivery.

When does the seller get paid?

The seller is paid as soon as you confirm that the order has been delivered. Your confirmation releases the funds immediately. If you do not confirm delivery or open a dispute within 48 hours after the seller marks the order as delivered, TradeLink will automatically release the funds to the seller. We’ll send you two reminders during that 48-hour period before the automatic release, giving you enough time to confirm delivery or raise a dispute if there’s an issue.

What if I never receive my order?

If a dispatched order never arrives, open a dispute from the order detail page. Our team investigates and refunds you to your wallet if the seller cannot prove delivery.

Browsing & Buying

Finding products and placing orders

How do I find products?

Use the Explore tab to browse or search by category. You can filter by location to find sellers near you.

How do I place an order?

Open a listing and pick a color if it has color options. If the seller set bulk-pricing tiers, choose the quantity tier you want - that sets both your quantity and price; otherwise the order is for a single unit. Then Add to Cart or tap Buy Now to place it. Your wallet just needs enough to cover the item price plus any delivery - the platform fee is never charged to you.

What are the order statuses?

Your order moves through: Order placed (Paid) → Confirmed (seller accepted) → Dispatched (seller uploads a dispatch photo) → Delivered → Completed. You can open a dispute once it's been dispatched or delivered - not before it's dispatched, and not after it's completed.

Can I cancel an order?

You can cancel yourself while the order is still 'Order placed' and the seller hasn't confirmed it - you get a full refund to your wallet. Once the seller has dispatched, you can't self-cancel; open a dispute instead if there's a problem. Orders a seller never confirms are auto-cancelled and refunded after 72 hours.

How do I track my delivery?

When the seller dispatches, they upload a dispatch photo. You can view this on your order detail page. You can also message the seller directly.

Funding Your Wallet

Adding money and making payments

How do I add money to my wallet?

Tap Wallet → Fund Wallet to see your dedicated account number (a Paystack virtual account in your name). Transfer money to it from any bank app and your wallet tops up automatically once the transfer lands - usually within seconds. There's no in-app card checkout; funding is by bank transfer to your dedicated account.

What is the platform fee?

As a buyer you never pay a separate platform fee - you only pay the order total (item price plus any delivery), held in escrow until you confirm. Any currently configured commission comes out of the seller's earnings when the order completes, not your bill. Sellers see the effective rate and cap in Wallet → Fee Schedule.

Is my money safe in my wallet?

Yes. Your balance is held securely. TradeLink processes all payments through Paystack and never stores your card details - wallet funding is done by bank transfer to your dedicated account.

Can I withdraw money from my wallet?

Yes. Go to Wallet → Withdraw, set up your payout bank (or use a saved one), and enter the amount. The minimum withdrawal is ₦1,000. By default there's no withdrawal fee, though a small processing fee may apply depending on the amount - the exact fee is always shown on the confirmation screen before you confirm.

Disputes & Refunds

What to do when something goes wrong

When can I open a dispute?

Once your order has been dispatched or delivered, and before it's marked completed. Open the order detail page, tap Open Dispute, and describe the issue clearly. Orders that are only placed or confirmed (not yet dispatched), completed, or cancelled can't be disputed.

How long does a dispute take?

Our team aims to resolve disputes within 48 hours. Complex cases may take up to 5 business days.

What are the possible outcomes of a dispute?

After reviewing the evidence, our team can refund you in full (money returns to your wallet and the order is cancelled), issue a partial refund (you get part back and the order completes), release the funds to the seller (the sale completes), or issue a company refund (the seller is still paid and TradeLink makes you whole). Refunds always land in your TradeLink wallet.

How are refunds processed?

Approved refunds go back to your TradeLink wallet instantly. You can then withdraw to your bank at any time.

What if the seller disputes my claim?

Our team reviews evidence from both sides - dispatch photos, messages, and order history. We make a fair decision based on the evidence provided.

Account & Safety

Managing your profile and staying safe

How do I change my password?

Go to Settings → Security. To change it directly, enter your current password and a new one (at least 8 characters) under Change Password. Forgot it? Tap Send Reset Link and we will email a reset link to your registered email.

How do I follow a seller?

Visit a seller's profile page and tap Follow. You'll find your followed sellers in the Following tab on your profile.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Delete Account, enter your password and type DELETE to confirm. Your profile is anonymized and you're signed out right away, but it's a soft delete: the account is recoverable for a 30-day window before it's permanently purged. Orders, wallet transactions and reviews are kept for compliance. Withdraw your wallet balance first - the app won't stop you deleting with funds still inside.

Is my payment info stored on the app?

No. Payments are processed by Paystack and wallet funding is by bank transfer - TradeLink never stores your card details.

How Escrow Works for Sellers

Understanding when and how you get paid

When do I get paid?

Funds are released to your wallet (minus the platform fee) as soon as the buyer confirms delivery. If the buyer doesn't confirm, the funds release automatically 14 days after you mark the order delivered. The buyer gets a reminder about 24 hours before that automatic release.

What happens during a dispute?

The funds stay locked in escrow while our team investigates - neither side can access them until it's resolved. Upload clear dispatch proof and respond promptly in the dispute thread.

What is the platform fee?

The current order commission is shown in Wallet → Fee Schedule and in the listing payout preview. It is taken from your earnings, not charged separately, and only when the order completes and funds are released to you. If the displayed rate is zero, no order commission is deducted.

Creating & Managing Listings

Getting your products in front of buyers

How do I list a product?

Go to your Catalog tab and tap the + button. Add photos (1-4 per listing), a title, description, pricing, delivery info, and color variants. Listings only go live once your business is verified (BVN + phone) - until then they're saved as inactive and won't show in search. After you're verified, new listings publish immediately.

How do bulk pricing tiers work?

Bulk pricing replaces a single unit price. You define pack options - for example 5 pcs for ₦2,000 or 10 pcs for ₦3,500. Buyers pick one pack at checkout; they cannot type a custom quantity. The price is the total for that pack, not a per-unit rate.

How do I set delivery options?

When creating a listing, choose how delivery is handled: Free (no delivery charge) or Flexible (delivery is billed separately via chat, within a price range you set that buyers can see). You can also add a free-text delivery note like "Same-day within Lagos".

Why isn't my listing showing up in search?

New listings only go live once your business is verified - you need both your BVN/identity and your phone number verified. Until then your listings stay inactive. Once you're verified you can activate them and they publish right away.

How do I share my store?

Go to your Profile → tap the share icon. This generates a link to your TradeLink storefront that you can share on social media or WhatsApp.

Can I pause or hide a listing?

Yes. Tap the listing in your Catalog and toggle it inactive. It won't appear in search results but your data is preserved.

Managing Orders

Accepting, dispatching and completing orders

How do I accept an order?

Go to your Orders tab. New orders appear at the top. Tap the order and tap Accept. You have 72 hours before the order auto-cancels.

How do I mark an order as dispatched?

Tap the order, then tap Dispatch. You must upload a dispatch photo as proof - this protects you in the event of a dispute.

What if a buyer cancels?

If a buyer cancels, the order is cancelled, they're fully refunded, your stock is restored, and you're not penalised. Buyers can only self-cancel a freshly paid order within 15 minutes of payment, before you've confirmed it.

What happens if I don't respond in time?

Orders you don't accept within 72 hours are automatically cancelled and the buyer is refunded.

Withdrawing Earnings

Getting your money to your bank account

How do I withdraw my earnings?

Go to Wallet → Withdraw and withdraw to your saved payout bank (set one up first via Setup Payout Account if you haven't). The minimum is ₦1,000. By default there's no withdrawal fee, though a small processing fee may apply depending on the amount - the exact fee is always shown before you confirm.

How do I save a payout bank?

Go to Profile → Setup Payout Account. Enter your bank details once and they'll be saved for faster future withdrawals.

How long do withdrawals take?

Withdrawals are usually processed instantly and should arrive in your account within moments.

Why was my withdrawal delayed?

Most withdrawals are processed instantly. If yours is taking longer than expected, please contact support with your transaction reference and we’ll look into it.

What happens if my withdrawal fails?

If a transfer fails after your wallet was debited, the full amount (including any fee) is automatically refunded to your TradeLink wallet and the request is marked failed, so you can try again. The system also auto-retries temporary errors several times before giving up.

KYC & Verification

Getting your business verified

What is KYC and why do I need it?

KYC (Know Your Customer) confirms your identity and business so buyers can trust you. There are two parts: your BVN is checked automatically with our identity provider plus a quick face check, and your CAC business certificate is reviewed by our team. Once approved, a 'Verified' badge shows on your profile and listings, and your store becomes publicly visible. Verification is required before you can sell - it doesn't unlock higher transaction or payout limits; the badge is about trust.

How do I apply for KYC?

Go to Profile → Get Verified. Your BVN must be exactly 11 digits and is checked automatically, along with a quick face verification - this part is usually instant. For the business 'Verified' badge you also add your CAC number and upload your CAC certificate (photo or PDF), which our team reviews - typically within 24-48 hours.

What happens if my KYC is rejected?

You'll receive a notification with the reason. Common reasons are blurry documents or a name that doesn't match your BVN. You can reapply after correcting the issue.

Can I use the same BVN on more than one account?

No. A BVN can be linked to just one TradeLink account. If you try to verify with a BVN that is already tied to another account, verification is blocked.

Is my BVN safe?

Yes. Your BVN is used only for identity verification and is never shown to buyers or other users. We take security seriously and work with trusted verification providers that comply with applicable regulations and industry standards to protect your information.

Account & Safety

Managing your business account

How do I change my password?

Go to Settings → Security (under Account). Under Change Password, enter your current password and a new one (at least 8 characters, different from the current one) and confirm it. Forgot it? Tap Send Reset Link and we will email a reset link to your registered email.

Can I have a personal and business account?

You don't need two accounts to sell - a single account can be both a buyer and a seller. Just add a business name during signup, or set up a business later, and the same account gains seller mode. Each email can only register once, so you'd only need a separate email for a completely separate second account.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account, enter your password and type DELETE to confirm. It's a soft delete: your profile and store are anonymized (your store becomes 'Deleted Store') and your listings are deactivated immediately, but the account is only permanently purged after a 30-day window. Orders and wallet transactions are kept for compliance. Withdraw any balance first - the app won't block deletion if you still have funds.
